NorthUp Curve

Unparalled Heat, Steam, and Ventilation.

The curvature of the sauna allows for faster heating (fewer cubic feet), and optimal flow of both ventilation and rolling steam over your body.

Whether it's for a few friends stretching out and laying down or 8 friends gathering, we have space to unwind and connect.

What Owners Say

5.0 rating on Google Reviews

Excellent service, clarity of process, and a high quality product. We are very happy with our Northup XL sauna at our home, and just bought a second one for our cabin. The experience of taking a sauna in ambient light thru the translucent walls is a delightful experience.

There is an unexplainable charm when doing a sauna inside a 180+ degree polycarbonate bubble, where the light inside is perfect during the light hours, or after the sun has set - the romanced feeling you get with being under the stars with the wood burning stove giving you a perfect orange glow.

Rachel

We absolutely love our NorthUp!! The ability to mix the outdoors and sounds of nature into the whole sauna experience is such a delight. The way the NorthUp is designed allows for all the natural light to come in and really enhance our session. It’s so peaceful and is something we plan to have as a staple in our lifestyle forever.

I've owned my NorthUp sauna for 2 years now and I love it as much as the day I brought it home. I use it frequently (2-4 times/week) and haven't had a single issue with build or quality of materials. I love being able to see outside while using it. Mine is at my lake home so I also love the portability as I'll move it down to the lakeshore in summer.

I was an original customer for the then brand new NorthUp sauna. The design hit me as both novel, beautiful and affordable. All true. The surprises included fast heat up and to rollicking temps, if desired. The thermal mass is minimal so it gets to temp fast. It is lightweight and can move easily on a utility trailer. Recommend!

Rodney

I wanted a sauna but didn’t want to sit in a dark barrel during the darkest days in winter. Northup sauna is the perfect solution!

Stephanie

I love the NorthUp sauna experience so much! As someone who pops up to events and provides mobile sauna experiences, the lightweight transit and speed to heat is ideal. I also greatly appreciate the way the steam and heat move through the sauna — a credit to its design — and the transparent materials that allow the light in and a connection to nature. ✨🔥

I’ll keep it simple—NorthUp Saunas just gets it right on all levels. Heats up fast, great steam, and the natural light makes it next level. I have tried every kind of sauna there is. But beyond the features, Some of my best memories have been made inside it.
It is particularly beautiful when it's raining or snowing.

Nathan

The sauna heats up fast and the steam is amazing especially on the upper bench! I love the design. I have an older model but it is still holding up great. I have a sauna rental business and this sauna is a breeze to tow and move around on site to get it positioned.

Danny

I love my Northup Sauna. It may have an unconventional design but the Northup delivers a proper sauna experience. I’m reminded every time I use my brother’s and sister’s barrel saunas how superior the Northup sauna experience is. I’ve had my sauna for almost 2 years now and it looks as good as it did on day one. It’s been on a Montana guys trip and to a friend’s bachelor party. I’ve really enjoyed sharing a sauna with friends and family. Thank you Northup.

Short answer - yes it is safe.

While certain plastics like PVC and acrylic are not rated for sauna temperatures, polycarbonate is meant to be used in high-heat environments and trusted in commercial architecture, healthcare facilities, and medical device manufacturing.

We didn't just take our manufacturer's specs at face value, we hired an independent Certified Industrial Hygienist tested our sauna at 246°F, measuring 74 VOCs against the strictest safety standards in the industry. Every VOC was negligible or non-detectable. Read the full report here.

Additional bonus - the material is shatterproof and virtually unbreakable. We once had a tree fall on a client's sauna and it didn't break!

Electric stoves requires a licensed electrician to install a 220V/40A breaker.

Wood-fired stoves require nothing but seasoned wood.

All NorthUp models are lightweight and do not require a permanent foundation.

We recommend choosing a spot that is level.

Options for foundation include:

  • Patio pavers, blocks, or gravel to prevent settling
  • Decking
  • Concrete foundation
  • Directly on the grass/dirt (not recommended long term)

Sauna should be 10’ from all combustibles at or above chimney level if purchasing a wood-fired sauna. No requirements for electric sauna.

Certain municipalities require setbacks from property lines, water, or other structures. Our structures can usually either be considered temporary or are below square footage cutoffs to avoid permitting. Check your local building codes.
